Availability Display

How online, away, and offline availability is shown to visitors in the widget, and how to control it.

Convot shows your team’s availability to visitors so they know whether to expect a quick reply or a longer wait. Here is how each piece works and where to configure it.

Availability states

Each agent has one of three effective availability states:

Online Agent is active - their browser or app is connected to Convot.
Away Agent is manually set to away, or outside their scheduled hours.
Offline Agent is disconnected.

The widget shows an aggregate of your team’s availability for the app - if at least one agent is online, the app is shown as available.

Availability tooltip on the launcher

When Show the availability tooltip when chatbox is closed is on under Settings → Apps → [your app] → Chatbox → Appearance, a small badge appears near the launcher button when the widget is closed. It signals to visitors whether someone is available before they click.

Turn this off for a cleaner launcher with no status badge.

Away message

When no operators are online, the widget shows an away message instead of the normal composer. Set a custom away message under Settings → Apps → [your app] → Chatbox → Behavior in the When your team is away section.

Leave the field blank to use the default away message.

Hiding the widget when everyone is away

If you want to hide the widget entirely when no operators are online, turn on Hide the chatbox if all operators are away under Chatbox → Behavior.

This means visitors who arrive outside your hours will see no chat option at all and cannot leave a message. Use this only if you have another support channel (email, help center) clearly available.

Business hours and away scheduling

Agents can set a work schedule. Outside their scheduled hours, they are automatically treated as away. This keeps the availability display accurate without requiring agents to manually toggle status.

Business hours are configured per agent under their profile settings.

Your own availability

To set your own availability status, click your avatar or profile icon in the Convot inbox and choose Online, Away, or use your scheduled hours. Your status is reflected immediately in the widget for visitors.
