Spam Filtering
How Convot filters spam and auto-replies, and how to block specific senders or domains.
Convot applies two layers of filtering to inbound emails so your inbox stays clean.
Automatic filtering
Convot automatically drops emails that match common patterns for:
- Spam - flagged by spam detection on the inbound pipeline.
- Auto-replies - vacation responders, out-of-office messages, delivery receipts, and “do not reply” messages from automated systems.
- Bounce notifications - delivery failure messages from mail servers.
These are dropped silently - no conversation is created and no agent notification is sent.
Manual blocked senders
For senders that slip through automatic filtering, or senders you simply want to ignore, you can maintain a custom blocklist.
Adding a blocked sender
- Go to Settings → Email (organization-level settings).
- Find the Blocked senders panel.
- Enter a full email address (e.g.
[email protected]) or a domain starting with@(e.g.@notifications.github.com). - Click Block.
Emails from blocked addresses or domains are dropped silently - no conversation is created.
Domain blocking
Blocking @notifications.github.com drops every email from that domain, not just a specific address. Useful for blocking entire notification systems.
Removing a blocked sender
Click the X next to any entry in the blocked senders list to remove the block. Emails from that address or domain will create conversations again from that point forward. Emails that were already dropped are not recovered.
What is not filtered
Convot does not filter:
- Emails from legitimate customers, even if they send frequently.
- Emails addressed to multiple recipients (CC’d emails).
- Plain-text emails with short content.
If a legitimate email is being dropped, check whether the sender’s address or domain has been added to the blocklist, and remove it if so.
