Your Account
Notification preferences
Choose how Convot alerts you to new messages - desktop notifications, sound, and tab-focus behavior.
Convot can alert you the moment a customer sends a message, even if you are looking at a different tab. Go to Settings > Account > Notifications (/settings/account/notifications) to adjust these.
Notification preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage, not your Convot account. If you use Convot on multiple browsers or devices, you need to set your preferences in each one separately.
Desktop notifications
Toggle: Desktop notifications
When this is on, your operating system shows a pop-up notification for each new incoming message - the same kind you see from other apps like Slack or email.
Desktop notifications require your browser’s permission. If you have not granted it yet, an Enable button appears next to the toggle:
- Click Enable.
- Your browser prompts you to allow or block notifications from Convot.
- Click Allow. The status changes to “Allowed.”
If you previously blocked notifications in your browser, the button changes to Re-request permission. If your browser still denies the re-request, you need to update site permissions manually in your browser settings (usually under the padlock icon in the address bar).
Sound
Toggle: Sound
When this is on, Convot plays a soft chime each time a new message arrives. The sound plays whether the tab is focused or in the background.
Notify even when this tab is focused
Toggle: Notify even when this tab is focused
By default, desktop notifications and sound only trigger when the Convot tab is in the background (minimized or hidden behind another tab). This avoids redundant alerts when you are already looking at the inbox.
Turn this on if you want a notification even when the tab is active - useful if you use Convot in a side monitor and want sound confirmation for every message.
Test your settings
Click Send a test notification at the bottom of the page to fire a sample desktop notification and/or sound using your current preferences. This is a good way to confirm everything is set up correctly after granting browser permission.
